If it affects the expectations and has some kind of meter of which to measure the impact. So there needs to be more information.
Firstly, that the supply demand story has shifted, which I don't believe is clearly circulated and accepted by anyone. Today included.
Secondly that there is some kind of update on current and future sale prices. If it is unknown then I doubt anyone could justify a 10% swing from the open.
Thirdly that it is not somwhat expected already. I haven't seen anything which has blindsided the market lately.
And all this needs to be translated into the market cap.
I agree futures do play a role but they usually follow modelled pricing, not one off announcements which may lead to some kind of pricing. The fact that this is missing makes me think it's not the cause in this particular case. But you are right that it might play a role in the future given an infinite timeline.
