    Columbite is an ore for Nb and Ta in aprox equal quantities. The original name for niobium was columbium - still is in US of A.

    Hop over to Brazil and see the many photos of pegs containing black crystals of Ta and/or Nb mineral and brown columbite in SUM forum.

    Mate, Nb used in high grade alloy steel, Ta in electronics and both very valuable. Batteries too, but maybe cost will be a factor there.
