There is no doubt IMO that there's been talk behind closed doors about what a deal would have to look like for all concerned. Call me suspicious, go as far as to call me a conspiracy theorist, but nobody can tell me that these people, who know each other well, attend road shows and the like, don't have talk behind the scenes about what their personal expectations and parameters are.
