Where do you get this idea from? The data likely sent off for the MRE upgrade the same day its received, but only announced to market if quite good, or better. You suggest companies throw whole cores away or lab results? Not saying it couldn't happen but all hell would break loose.

Sure the company might get a great sense or feel of whether to be happy or not, just by looking at grade and knowing intervals and while they wait for the sign-off can use the time sensibly to figure out what the announcement needs to look like - ass covering, spin or Alleluia. The loose lips people talk about will be more or less others reading body language. Anything else leads to Reputational Risk or worse up to and including jail time. The driller gets paid to drill/core and they have records of how many holes they drilled depth and location in order to get paid. The labs make sure their records are straight how else do they get paid. Somebody would notice.

The explorer Hammer Metals drilled a nearology hole next to a known high grade resource and announced a complete fizzer - not a spec of anything, zero.
