GBE are getting closer to developing the first niobium/tantalum mine in 30 years. Painfully slow in receiving approvals in Malawi - ML issued and DA due anyday.
Meantime they are patenting a pyrochlore processing tech which they say will have huge capex/opex savings and very importantly environmental benefits - in that very few acids/chemicals required to produce a concentrate - unlike 20+ something traditionally used could be as low as 3. Perhaps company's like Lynas can leave in tailings and .... Anyway then again Lynas are specialists at processing the most difficult of minerals.

90% of Niobium comes from Brazil - worthwhile looking at CBMM website and the money they are investing in various collaborations for niobium use in anodes for EV/HEV/BATTERY STORAGE - certainly niobium has benefits and is gaining momentum with a few global auto names investing and using such tech. Could see a niobium price boom adding more to Lynas bottom line. Traditional uses - well it's in the top 3 critical minerals for Defense but mainly used in steel manufacturing for lighter - strengthening and corrosion resistance.

Both China and US invested a billion each into CBMM some years ago 6-7 maybe - given the importance of niobium supply.

Why now or past year or so with drilling and resource definition program. I would consider their strategy in proving up further JORC is to supply and expand on their own Kal production. Why process others concentrate (as they've mentioned) when they extend their own JORC for an expected 50+ years resource and further increase their own production/profits. Anyway it just gets better - well done to the team.
