I know less about this than you, but is it a pointer to how many motorbikes are sold as 'boy's toys' and hence the decision to purchase is discretionary (and therefore adversely affected when there's an economic downturn?
Are motorbikes widely perceived as far less safe than motor vehicles, and hence there's reluctance among commuters to purchase?
Is this form of transport largely viewed by females as the preserve of males?
I lack answers, but perhaps you or others do.
