It's one option when you have hole issues that make acquiring pressures and samples via wireline a challenge. The downside is cost and tool availability. IMO options woud be:
1) Acquiring all log data via LWD or
2) Acquiring most of log data via wireline but acquiring pressures/samples via LWD.
