Copper isotubes are required for helium sampling and a mass spectrometer based gas analyzer is usually also run for helium work. I recall no intention to run same being noted in any releases.
From my experience a lack of fluorescence is usually an indicator of gas rather than oil. In a few wells with friable formation I've drilled through oil zones with no fluorescence visible in the cuttings....the Latrobe M-1 reservoir in Bass Strait.
