Not always....some minerals and shaley sands can produce elevated Resistivy readings

Not sure how that works. The gamma ray tool picks up gamma rays emitted by the decay of radioactive isotopes of Uranium, Thorium and Potassium. In the case of shales the isotopes are contained within the crystal lattice of the clay minerals that make up shales. "Hot" sands that are high in potassium feldspar will also give a high gamma ray response.
Gamma ray readings are usually low in gas sands simply because there's little or no clay present.
