While youre pumping out a station the optical fluid analyzer will give you a good idea of what you have. You've also got pressure gradient data which will tell you if its gas, oil or water.

At surface while the tool is in the rotary and MDT Specialist is closing the valves on the bottles you'll see a small sample of whats in the bottles by watching what gets bled off from the short section of flow line between the bottle valve and the one shot valve.....there's about 100mls of volume that gets bled off.

If confirmation of what's in bottles is necessary then they can be cracked once laid out and a basic chromatograph analysis using the mudloggers chromatograph carried out if its gas and an API measurement if its oil or condensate.

Declaration of a discovery requires a confirmation of what fluid is in the sample chambers..it doesn't require a detailed lab analysis.
