"if we have to sidetrack do you reckon they would go in with TLC set-up immediately expecting differential sticking from permeability in the sidetrack same as current borehole"

Unless they make changes it mud weight or fluid loss then the risk of differential sticking remains unchanged so it would be prudent to go straight in with the MDT on TLC.

A reference log of some sort would be required on hand prior to running the MDT. There are two options here:

1. Run a supercombo logging string or
2. Use an LWD GR/res log as a reference log. This log wouldn't be the best for picking best points for sampling but if the sidetrack is running close to the main bore then original log suites from the man bore can be used as a guide for picking points. LWD logs are acquired using drillers depths while the MDT is run using wireline depths. Picking points on an LWD log requires a depth shift. It's a pain in the a**e process but there aren't alot of other options.

Which option you'd go for would depend on costs of each option. Incremental cost for running a basic LWD string in the sidetrack woud probably be less than for a wireline run as LWD as it will most likely be part of a package deal from Baker/NOV.
