Ann: Mukuyu-2 sidetrack drilling successfully commenced, page-99

Hi KG. Firstly, I thank you and all of our other resident O&G experts for your very informative posts.

Now, I apologise if you or any of our other learned poster have already addressed this, but since last Monday’s sidetrack announcement I have been pondering if the decision to drill MK-2 borehole with a slightly off-vertical trajectory (12 degrees?) and with the slight dog-leg (where the sidetrack is now forking from) was taken as insurance to allow for a more straightforward and optimal vertical sidetrack - in the event that such a contingency would be required.
Could it be that Invictus designed the MK-2 drilling course fully cognizant of the differential sticking risks etc involved in penetrating the LA, yet having a high degree of confidence that any subsequent sidetrack would be relatively straightforward with high probability of successful sample recovery?
