WMG - Australia next? Possibly Mr. Boy .In July 2021, Tesla signed a nickel supply agreement with BHP Group to secure a sustainable source of Nickel for its batteries.
The nickel is sourced from BHP’s Nickel West operation in Western Australia, which is noted for its low carbon emissions and sustainable practices. Nickel is a critical component in lithium-ion batteries, enhancing energy density which is vital for Tesla’s vehicles.
The deal aligns with Tesla’s push to lock in raw materials amid growing demand for electric vehicles, with projections estimating a 500% increase in nickel demand for batteries over the next decade.
Beyond supply, Tesla and BHP are collaborating on sustainability initiatives, including blockchain-based raw material traceability, technical exchanges for battery production, and exploring energy storage solutions to reduce carbon emissions, exact volumes weren’t disclosed.
This partnership reflects Tesla’s strategy to diversify its supply chain, reduce reliance on certain global suppliers, and prioritize environmentally responsible sourcing, responding to Elon Musk’s 2020 call for miners to produce nickel efficiently and sustainably. There’s no public information indicating changes to this agreement so it’s likely still active.
But the Boss did say more than once that the company's DNA was definitely an explorer , and considering that Tesla already has a multi faceted agreement with BHP "the natural owners of the project" who has been in discussions with management ,I'm thinking that this "First cab off the rank" deposit is designed to provide the "Bread and butter" material and justify the establishment of a Concentrator by it's new owner.
After 3 years of "Tip toeing around , a water supply has been located in the Channels, the duster hole was no accident and provided the ideal location to build the infrastructure , and that fancy MT survey has lit up the shallow high grade deposits that are scattered around the camp and can be drilled out just as soon as the company get's "Cashed up" .
We own the entire belt and it's fertile AF .
