Ord River catchment area was severely denuded by over grazing of cattle (over many decades) that led to massive siltation within the Ord. Much of the catchment area covering tens of thousands of square kilometers was placed within the Ord River Regenerative Reserve. Cattle were removed from the reserve area and ground cover reintroduced over several decades. M24 has no interest in running cattle.
