we have hydrocarbon producing source rock
we have porous reservoir rock
we have the impermeable trap
as long as we have the seal ... boom.
I am now thinking that the geology and age of the basin has a richness of suitable rock, and as per Scott's most recent presentation we have to pick and choose the targets based on seal.
In 1 slide alone he showed a cross section of fractured trap rock with gas chimney linking to the surface adjacent to unfractured trap rock with no chimneys and clear evidence of flat spots indicating hydrocarbons.
If we hit a duster first strike I am convinced it'll be because we hit a target with a broken seal.
Rather than these 2 wells being a company making all or nothing play, I am now thinking all it'll take is a rich farm-in partner to say "let move the rig 100km north west and try again".
Regardless, Scott already knows all this and will obviously target the evident sealed targets
