My Bad. I have made comments about the element rubidium which should apply to niobium. They are chalk and cheese.
Rb is an alkali group metal and is very reactive in air and water - it has few uses.
Nb is a stable metal with a high melting point and is used in high strength alloys for jet engines etc. It is a critical metal.
