I agree. I am a long term holder. If you were fortunate enough to buy a well designed, well built home in an exclusive, sought after area at auction, why would you sell it just because strangers knock on your door offering less than you paid? Quality homes in prime locations, especially those that are well designed, built and maintained, are rare.
Now imagine you ran the numbers before and after the purchase. You bought well, and the rising cost of materials and labour, along with significantly higher rental yields, confirm the property is now worth more. Add to that falling interest rates, strong cash flow (rental) prospects, and the fact that the architect and builder are tied up with other projects so you would have to wait years for their services, why sell unless you had to?
That is the value of doing your research. When you know what you own, you are not concerned with what others think it is worth, because you are not selling.
