Only 9.68 carats recovered from 4,732 cubic meters of gravel is a very poor result with the average diamond size also quite low at 0.60 of a carat over the 16 diamonds recovered.
26,000 hectares is also small compared to a advanced alluvial mining project IM invested in Angola, that project in the early days was recovering and averaging almost 5 carats per 100 cubic meters in surface gravels over a much larger area on a 3000 hectare lease with average diamond sizes being almost 1 carat.
This result is so poor it is just over 0.2 of a carat per 100 cubic meters and the overburden on top of the bottom gravels looks to make the alluvials uneconomical unless any grade below is over 50 carats per 100 cubic meters,if the average diamond size increases closer to 1 carat, then a grade of about 10 carats per 100 cubic meters should be economical.
