Many years ago my friend bought rubies, of this size and colour, in Northern Thailand. He took them and other sizes to a Singaporean jeweller who wanted all of his smallest rubies to put around the faces of wrist-watches that he was making. So yes there is a market especially for fashion jewellery pieces.
