IP is worthless, unless you can commercialise it. In this case, they have the opportunity for another company, major component manufacturer, to commercialising their IP through a separate pipeline without impacting their core business lines.
Even if they don't make much from royalties, it will increase the market shift to NEX, which will boost their other core business areas.
