There are more than likely standards they need to meet, and mandated standards may be different in different parts of the world.

When a disruptive technology is released, it may not meet standards due to the standards being developed around traditional technologies.

tbh, I don't know what these standards are for this unit, or whether they have met the standards.

Once the standards are met, there would be no reason, other than competitive advantage, to keep trying to improve it.

That is, unless certain contracts require a level of performance above a standard.

Thats my 2 cents as an engineer.
