Take this with a grain of salt

Natures "scientific reports" journal is not nearly the same as the big nature journals

I published in scientific reports during my PhD and they don't take into account novelty or importance for this one. while it's food to get published, it's not a big journal. Almost anything can get published in scientific reports, provided it passes peer review and you pay the money.

Nature communications is an impact factor 11.8 (which is huge, one of the best in the world)

Nature scientific reports is an impact factor 4, which means it's still a decent journal but not world changing or career making nature comm is.
