It is completely different and inferior.
Samsung's app is focused on objects, and takes into account surface and perimeters only. MYQ's app takes into account a dynamic changing human body, and it also calculates body fat, water content etc. etc.
There's a lot more biotech in MYQ's tech as the tech also tracks and analyses eye movement, facial muscles, and changes in body shape, size, density etc.
Actually from what I know Samsung and MYQ have definitely had talks about this but I am not sure if anything eventuated.
But yes, completely different tech for completely different purposes. I see it as a positive for the industry as there will be focus on tech that uses phone cameras to create digital and virtual versions of things. If one day a game requires an avatar of yourself to be scanned in, Samsung's app would scan the environment, while MYQ's would scan yourself in.
