Yes, of course, I understand that it involves taking a risk hence why my suggestion that investors have a long, hard think about the underlying quality and security of the income assets they invest in. I'm sure this is all hindsight-speak but hopefully, investors like your friend take the opportunity to diversify where they obtain dividends from as times like this show that banks can deliver the most savage of pay cuts (especially an ill-managed one like NAB).
