Nearmap stated that there were several other approaches prior this bid. This suggests the potential for a bidding war amongst several firms all looking to acquire Nearmap. I’d be surprised if the offer does not increase markedly from here. Which combined with short sellers having to close their positions should make for some very excitable trading over the next couple of months.
