With respect I do understand how a CT clap works. My point is that the clamp and the clamped cable must be physically placed so the field generated by clamp and cable is registered by the Buddy device. For this to happen means the electrical sub board/switch board/distribution board or whatever you want to call it must have its front cover removed. Just look at the image and trace the cable path from the circuit breaker to the Buddy device. The only safe way to achieve this removal is to shut the whole board down. How else can the CT clamp be enclosed around the respective building wire to create the data for that particular circuit?
