Sorry but anyone who suggests they can pick the market I have grave misgivings about that - if it was so easy then this game would not need fund managers. If I take out the money then I am at risk for a sharp move overseas when this market is closed and even buying at open can cost me money. Say Mastercard bid for Afterpay, GC1 would be 5% up on open... I think that staying out is a great move if there are no dividends but reality suggests that if you are getting a good return then over time cash isn't king.

If GC1 did not pay a dividend I might have followed your strategy but not here. If this is so easy then we would have to ask why Watermark haven't got WGF and WMK and even ALF to produce. It seemed so easy to me you short a stock with poor management and buy a stock in the same industry with good management. Look how wrong it seems to have gone for them.

This stock covers an area of my portfolio I am not competent to invest in it rounds off my portfolio and if you have spoken to MG you would see how much effort goes into their research. At this end of town there is often a mismatch in price but last year it went the other way on small volumes.

@joewolf completely agree with your analysis and reason for staying in GC1. The most important point you make I believe is the one about investing in people ! All the kings horses and all the kings men probably cant put ALF back together again (even with all their analysists but with Justin Braitling leading the herd !) At least with GC1, if it comes from MG, you know he stands behind what he recommends ! Seems to be holding its own and paying as you mention the FF Div.
