It used to be called Wilson Leaders (WLS). Braitling has always been the investment manager though the title appears to have changed.
Geoff Wilson has always been on the board and still is. I suspect he lent his name to the company to get it started in 2004. There were fewer LICs at the time.
Geoff Wilson cannot "give" the company away it belongs to shareholders. I have never seen a statement that he is involved in investment decisions and I suspect his director role is more about running a good LIC for its shareholders. At the last annual report he has 1 million shares, nearly as many as Braitling.
