Probably too late now as they are caught up in never-ending permitting delays from the State and Federal governments, but really should have gone down the UCG gassification route to produce gas to feed into the existing gas network, or just put a stock standard gas fired peaking plant onsite seeing as the grid infrastructure was already there which would have made it an energy project that could be close to completion by now. The idea of a huge capital expense of a Urea plant with out-of-control inflationary construction costs in hindsight just looks silly/unachievable now.

Classic case of mission creep and not looking at the existing assets and finding the quickest permitting path to monetizing the assets that they had. Every time they changed the project they should have known that both levels of government would send them back to square 1 with permitting. The stupid thing is that this project had all the right ingredients for a successful ISCG project, a site that was already disturbed and contaminated and a site with its own isolated aquifer system that wouldn't have affected any other water basins or catchements. By frequently changing the proposal they just invited in all the disinformation and fud that the opponents would always use against them.
