patmad, me hearty, please don't knock us pessimists. It takes skill to be one. We lead an ordered life, not necessarily a boring one, and it can make for a comfortable life. We plan well, it helps control stress. We look for possible negative outcomes in areas of importance, and unlike optimists, we are generally better prepared to cope with untoward events. J L.
