Karen Audus, who worked as a truck driver at New Acland, has not had a job since it was shut down. She hopes to be re-employed if the mine reopens.
“It’s good news so far,” she says. “It appears to be heading in the right direction. It’s been going on way too long. I reckon a lot of the former staff will want to come back. We’re incredibly lucky to have a job here because it meant we could go home every night instead of having to travel away.”
