It looks like the board disagreement is that RW wanted to the Chair and the independant BOD wanted him to just be a consultant.
I don’t see the transition to Executive Chairman as a bad move. It is a smoother transition process compared to an outsider CEO who will want to imprint their own legacy and transform the business away from RW’s vision.
