The strangest thing to me is that this has torn to shreds any semblence of succession planning at the business. The bloke is 70 and whilst he's obviously welcome to continue working at the business he brilliantly created until the day he drops dead, a $30bn company needs a clear leadership succession plan. If the product delays are to be blamed on the fact he's been 'distracted' or out of the key decisions for the past six months, what does this actually say about the durability of the company/strategy without him?
