Doh. It just occurred to my apparently very slow thinking brain that we have shareholders that would not have been eligible to participate in the rights issue , by reason of residency, who may well be supportive of the company. Their equivalent chance has been to buy at these recent low levels which would help explain away my surprise that people have bothered to buy up during the rights period.
There probably aren't a lot that are disqualified as ineligible based on clause 1.26 in the prospectus but there are some and it would only take 1 or 2 to want some. Eg the eligible countries are Australia, New Zealand, Greece and the Netherlands with none from Africa - if any locals are in the know of something and want to get on they would have to buy on market.
Purely speculation on my part and not exactly constructive but it's a bit of fun to speculate what might be going on.
