Steve Rooney came into KGL in circa April / May 2022. He does not have a project / construction skillset but rather an operations skilset having come from McArthur River (as I recall). I don't think he was pushed because there were no operations for him to run. His skillset was untested. Therefore I suggest the most likely reason he left was one of two reasons:
(1) He had nothing to do and couldn't see any operations any time soon. He was bored, saw his career slipping away and resigned.
(2) KGL could not see any operations any time soon and retrenched him to save money.
The common denominator in both is "could not see any operations soon".
