I worked as a contract rigger at CSA over 40 years ago. They were putting in a new lift shaft and brought a crew of us up from Melbourne, and then the miners promptly went on strike. It was the deepest underground I had ever been at ~1.5 kms. We discovered that we were replacing a couple of guys who had died when the makeshift lift platform got snagged on some rebar and they fell to the bottom with drums of tools including heavy steel chains falling on top. I had a lot of fun in the town though. Beautiful women.
