Muon tomography will revolutionise base metals exploration. I'm no expert but the earth is being bombarded with 'dark matter' from deep space. Most of these pass straight through us unhindered but high concentrations of nuclei (dense stuff), can cause minor deviations. Track these deviations and you can find blobs of dense stuff like copper, lead and gold. Tracking from surface is hard because you are looking for backscatter of backscatter. Better to detect from within the earth looking towards the sky (source). Eight inch hole (big enough to fit sensor) to 600 m is very expensive. I would love to see some of these sensors taken into existing underground workings (Chariot? Warrego? Juno?) in the TC field.
