is it at all possible that the total silence from AVZ (other than the legal action they are taking), DRC government and Zijin suggests that the parties are in negotiations for Zijin to buy out AVZ’s stake? Surely each party realises that no-one is not going to give any ground here and the longer the delays take, the higher the risk that the DRC loses all credibility on the international stage (and the current government damaging its chances of re-election given that this is its flagship project) Zijin wastes money over what is still only a small proportion of the pie and AVZ runs out of cash through protracted legal disputes which the DRC govt probably won’t abide by anyway i.e. if the ruling wasn’t in their favour.
