traditional - casting - mould production, lead times transport certification etc (remember AL3 has been marine certified, the other competitors?) several months from order to receipt. You have delays, then you have parts sitting around decaying with rust, the cost of storage and tied up working capital having paid for it.
which method do you see as being part of the future of shipbuilding?
A simplistic example, but you get the picture right? and it is not just shipbuilding - any, metal part with long lead times, is a potential market depending on volume and the value of parts, and the time value of less warehouse, less working capital and production on demand.
