"I guess you will not be required if it is not a self managed super fund. Governemt approved superfund will have all your details, including tax file number. I have not received any such request from my Australiansuper".
I have since enquired of Australian Super, and they responded that I do not have to submit any U.S. tax waiver forms w.r.t. NEM because "the super fund is the legal owner of all shares purchased on behalf of super fund members participating in the 'Member Direct' investment option and will submit any tax forms".
Whilst that addresses my immediate issue, it came as a surprise that I am not the legal owner of shares I thought I had purchased directly through my Australian Super account. That now raises other concerns for me.....
