I agree that JV disputes are common but the problem is the controlling partner (in this case MCT) only holds the whip hand for certain actions. They certainly do not "hold all the aces". The terms of the JV do and it depends on how it was written.
NME are alleging MCT have breached the JV terms by not abiding by the budget approval process, not the other way round, which could stop proceedings (drilling etc) completely until a resolution is sought through the courts or mediation. Us investors can make whatever assumptions we like but only the directors of both companies know the facts.
The only fact i know is that I paid a higher price to purchase this stock than where it is at the moment based on what I determined was a very prospective gold project but now there is more action in the boardrooms than in the field. It may be time to dump and move on. I might buy GMD as in my opinion they will own both these companies in due coarse.
