I strongly doubt it'll be a US lawyer as the company is Australian and the wells are within Australian boundaries. Also, any court proceedings done through Australia requires an understanding of Australian jurisdiction.
On saying that, Australian lawyers and barristers aren't necessarily less tenacious than US ones.
Based on RIchie's report however, it does seem that the claim may be a shot in the dark. My bet is that it will fizzle out.
