Would you invest your hard earned money in my company knowing that I need to be coached as a director? Anybody can call themselves a "director" - but real directors of successful companies don't need to be coached!!!
GM's; CEO's; up-coming leaders - I agree with you - sure coach them. But those who are at the helm of a burgeoning business - no way. In fact, I would say directors should be the one's doing the coaching of their people NOT receiving it.
