At the coal face I can tell you there is 'agitation' on over servicing of "scopes" - endoscope and colonscopy. So much so that the specialists have switched to a direct, proactive reminder service to say "it's due"...thus bypassing the GP's. Medicine is afterall an industry and Merc leases, ski holidays in the alps and private school fees must be met. As patients we are complicit in not taking control of our medical issues and blindly accept the advice of the medicos...besides we don't know the full costs of same, but the insurers certainly do.
