    There are usually many possible type of shares in a company. It depends on the Company's articles of association. I think at present we need be only interested in the listed ordinary ones.
    Yes, I'm talking about NC1's shares.
    There are conditions to be a sophisticated investor and they have changed in the last few years so I don't want wan to venture an answer to that one you can look it up or someone else may answer.
    Suffice to say you need a well above average income and/or an accountant to prove you have a pretty successful business and high net worth. I think if you are asking these questions you would not (yet) qualify as a sophisticated investor given the category eschews the protections like prospectuses to protect non-sophisticated investors.
    To put it in the vernacular sophisticated investor are 'big enough and ugly enough' to look after themselves according to ASIC. I have never been one but got close in my halcyon days.
