I don't consider buying early to be a few months. I'm setting up new BESBS's now a year or two in advance.. The last one I sold that spudded this month I had to hold for 3 years (was worth it for the 1650% pre-spud gain though!) but that's just me.. one of the main benefits of early BESBS is the cap gains reduction even on your non free-carried portion.
But yeah I wouldn't want to be doing 3 month BESBS's in this market unless it's coming off a duster 4 months ago. And it's hard to go heavy for a long BESBS too, can't just put down larger single purchases like after the GFC, have to be tentative and average out waiting to see how the next year or two play out, leave powder dry for more eurozone issues etc... Bleh.
