Old Lady Fanny and Bourke & Wills records. Notice the consistently high grade and reference to a main and east lode which is what the CNB drilling has found. The mention of a 40ft wide lode and 16ft bulking 22% Cu in the drive shows a considerable width of spectacular grade ore. 16ft @ 22% Cu (5m) combined with a parallel lode and no doubt some disseminated mineralisation and it becomes it a bit easier to see why the drill results were as good as they have been so far.

5m@22% Cu is the equivalent of [email protected]% Cu but there is a whole lot less ore to process to get the same amount of copper. So it becomes easy to see why these rich shoots are so important to the profitability.

Very interested to see the IP over the area. If there are anomalies what is their direction of orientation? Will there be any new IP anomalies away from the existing workings? Will there be any evidence of a connection between Lady Fanny and Nil Desperandum?

What are the criteria that Carnaby used to declare an IOCG corridor? What are they seeing to make that declaration?

Townsville Daily Bulletin 13th July 1914

The Lady Fanny Mine –“During the past 6 months 200 tons of both oxidised and sulphide ores have beenextracted from various parts of the mine, the ore won being principally sold tothe Hampden Cloncurry Co and local buyers. The main shaft has been continued from the 100ft level lo 160ft, on a 3ft sulphate lode. A crosscut was put out east about 60ft, when the east lode was struck, a bulk sample from the bore hole assayed 12 per cent. Considerable work of an encouraging and payable nature has been out at the 90ft level. Large bodies of sub-sulphide ore, mixed with glance and bornite in a siliceous gangue his been exposed. This ore was bagged as it was shot down from the faces and averaged 18 per cent copper. A body of ore 10ft wide, which was met with 30ft below the main gossan outcrop in the east lode was followed for 25ft producing 100 tons of 20 per cent ore.

A development of great importance has recently taken place under this orebody at the 60ft level. Here a crosscut from the gold shaft has proved the lodeto be 40ft wide, and a drive on the lode in an easterly direction has followed afine solid ore body 16ft wide for a distance of 25ft, bulking 22 per cent Cu showingin the face. There is little doubt that this ore body and the ore overhead atthe 30ft level are continuous and indicate a considerable tonnage of high gradeore.

Townsville Daily Bulletin Mon 6th Dec 1915– Since February 350t @18% Cu have been extractedfrom the Lady Fanny Group of mines by 5 men. 100t were from 2 new shafts in the northerly workings about 300ft north of the main outcrop. 250 tonnes were obtained from the Burke and Wills Group some 400 yards west of the Lady Fanny. The B&W lode has been exposed by shafts and trenches over a distance of 500ft averaging 2ft 6inches wide. Three shafts along the lode have exposed a body of oxidised ore to a depth of 50ft where sulphide ore replaced it. A little water made at 60ft depth. 13t of sulphide ore from the most northerly shaft averaged 18% Cu and 3t from the southerly shaft some 500ft from the northerly one averaged 18% Cu also. Beyond the northern workings the lode runs for another 360ft into rising ground. This is the first systematic prospecting done on this lode, and it has well repaid the work done on it and it appears to indicate large bodies of highly payable ore.

It is easy to see a linear stream course running NW-SE in the approximate location of the possible fault offset of the NLIP4 anomaly SW of NDD044. The N-S fault I have shown running from Bourke & Wills south through the apex of the intersection of the two main lode directions at Nil Desperandum was mapped at surface by Paradigm Metals running from the intersection of the lodes running south from there.

There appears to be another fault structure parallel to the Lady Fanny and Bourke & Wills structures a bit further west running from Vampire Lady south. Surface mapping required, speculative drilling and hopefully the IP goes far enough west to capture this possible structure.
