No.
IMO Orion is more like a meerkat given current drilling. Needs friends to have a good party.
Extreme back of the envelope volume estimates can be made from the drilling to date.
From the schematic sections:
A range of intersections, down hole lengths gives this table of figures that can be converted into an order of magnitude for the volume.
SG - will be variable.
Grade is variable and concentrated locally.
TRUE DH LENGTH DH INTERSECTION A 15m 200m 11-20m B 8 140 4-12 C 12 120 11-20 D 15 130 6-19 E 10 120 3-22 F NIL SECTION ORION VOLUME TONNE CALCULATION STRIKE DEPTH THICK Cu M 200 140 15 420,000 TONNES SG 2.5 1,050,000 SG 3 1,260,000
Current down hole intersections show up to 200m of continuous mineralisation over a strike length of some 200m
Massive sulphides come in at 3.5 to 4.5 SG. Commonly the higher number if massive but Orion will be a mix of weathered to fresh rocks plus variably disseminated sulphides hence the SG's arbitrarily chosen.
Widths are highly variable as are grades so an average true thickness of 15, as used for the calculation, is probably towards the upper end of what may be actual.
Grades are commonly distributed as a narrow high-grade zone with a lower grade halo. Cu is the main economic element with gold locally significant. It is a polymetallic style of deposit so other elements kick in locally.
The high grade zones are seldom over 5m in down hole length but the grades are enough to raise the 1+-Mt to being somewhere around the 1+-% Cu range - Around 100+m vertical from surface.
Geophysics hints that this could go to some 500m vertical. With the thickness and grade of current intersections underground mining would be unlikely. Even a standalone open pit wouldn't be feasible without some friends -IMO.
While more than a Meerkat certainly less than an elephant unless something much larger comes up at depth at Orion.
============================
From memory, DT has said they would like to get to somewhere in the 20Mt range for Orion AND friends which would put the area in the running to be developed into a mining district. Latter is my wording.
Grants Find is likely to become a satellite if such an operation ever got underway.
The auger sampling has revealed 9 targets. DH's K 43, 44 have tested part of anomaly OR5 but the rest are near drill ready. Especially with infill auger and perhaps some further geophysical surveys complete.
Waiting to see what the drill bit shows is a trying experience. Data collected, collated and holes planned. Should be good but statistics and history show failure or technical success are more common. If you don't try you don't find and the reward for success can be great.
Orion style deposits commonly have have friends. Hopefully they come to the party.
