A lot of gaps occur for that exact reason - company announcements, but the gap still gets filled at some point. Doesn't need to be a close, it could an intraday pullback. I have seen some crazy calls with people saying - ' well there was a gap a few months ago, so it will retreat back to there', but it's an SP level 50% below where the SP is now. With this gap though, it was late last week and a couple of percent away.

You did say it was significant news, which is true, so we'll see over the next few weeks how the market reacts. But I still feel it will take a solid run into the mid 20s to avoid that gap - whether that's from more announcements or solid external macro developments next week.
