    Agree, hear you clearly. Unfortunately our capital account needs are huge and therefore as a nation we will always struggle between the need for foreign investment funds and the consequences of selling off the silver.

    It does not please me one bit; apart from post tax profits being redirected overseas, you have ongoing gaming of transfer pricing transactions to shift profits tax free overseas etc. Extremely hard to detect and prevent.

    FIRB can creatively impose some sort of local ownership conditions (eg superfunds etc) but doubt it will as it gets tricky by way of national policy settings in this area, needs parliamentary consultation etc, contrary to current economic policy support for open borders as the best way to maximize GDP blah blah. This is aside from the conga line of local suckers feeding off cash from foreign lobbying thst’s lining their pockets.
